Temperature-controlled storage for food producers, growers, caterers and cold storage operations across Minnesota. Ask for a written quote with delivery details.
A refrigerated container, a "reefer" in industry terms, is a standard shipping container with a refrigeration unit integrated into one end wall. It runs continuously or on a set schedule, circulating conditioned air through a raised aluminum T-floor so air can move beneath the stored goods.
Reefers were designed to carry perishable food by sea at a controlled temperature.
Reefers need a 480V 3-phase power connection. If your property does not have 3-phase, a diesel or natural gas generator can run the unit instead. Ask about power options when you request the quote.
| Available Sizes | 20ft & 40ft |
| Power Requirement | 480V 3-phase, or generator |
| Floor Type | Aluminum T-floor, raised |
| Wall Insulation | Integral polyurethane foam |
| 20ft Interior Volume | 1,003 cu ft |
| 40ft High Cube Interior Volume | 2,366 cu ft |
Working refrigerated containers carry a 1-year leak-free guarantee. Ask a Container One sales representative about coverage for the refrigeration unit itself before buying.
A meat processor or locker plant can add cold storage during the busy fall season.
An orchard, a vegetable farm or a farmers market vendor can keep produce cool between harvest and sale.
A caterer or event organizer can hold food on site at a summer festival, a county fair or a wedding venue.
A restaurant or grocery can add cold storage during a remodel or a busy season.
A food bank or distributor can stage chilled goods before they go out.
A florist or nursery can hold flowers and plants at a set temperature.
Reefer containers plug into a 480V 3-phase, 60Hz supply, the standard for commercial and industrial electrical systems. Commercial, agricultural and industrial properties may already have 3-phase power; confirm what is available at your site.
A qualified electrician can install an outlet at the reefer location. The refrigeration unit draws roughly 7 to 12 kW depending on the set temperature and the ambient conditions.
If the property has no 3-phase supply (for example a rural site, an off-grid location or a temporary event site), a diesel or natural gas generator rated for 3-phase output can run the unit. Generators can be rented from equipment rental companies.
